Deerfoot Inn & Casino is wrapping up the year with the Fall Super Stack series, a return to its signature poker event after a busy year of WSOP Circuit tournaments. Starting with live satellites on Nov 5, this classic Calgary poker event features a lineup of multi-day tournaments that include the $340 Deepstack, $560 Megastack, and the $1,500 Main Event Superstack.
This year’s schedule offers more than just the familiar No-Limit Hold’em events. With live coverage exclusively on PokerPro, players can follow all the action, starting with the opening flight of the $340 Deepstack on Nov 7.
Check out live updates and reporting from the 2024 Fall Super Stack series by Lyle Bateman. Chose an event of your choice down below:
They are down to 21 players left now in Day 2 with about 10 minutes to play in Level 18. Peter Svoboda, JJ Johnstone, Mal Hagan, and Patrick Wilson were the most recent busts. The full payouts are under the Payouts tab now, but see below for the payouts to date.
The side game is now underway with 30 players in their seats in the opening level of play. Entries are open until 8:15 so there is lots of time to get into this one. There is a bit of a line at the reg desk, so the numbers will climb to around 40 pretty quickly.
They are down to 25 now after the exits of Jeremy Drew (Graham), Karen Ray, Jo Teliani, Michael St. Pierre-Porter, and Ben Locker. It’s worth noting that Locker came into today with the nut-low stack, so he managed to spin that up pretty well.
They are on the first break of the day, and when they return for Level 17, the official Day 2 blinds of 40 minutes will begin. It looks like Dave Howat is the leader right now with about 760k in front of him. Mike Malm is also playing a decent stack of about 450k while Caleb Simmons is on about 475k. Patricia Kananda is on about 440k whole Paul Sokoloff looks to be playing about 330k.
The first break of Day 2 is nearly upon us with the field down to 31. Kyle Dery, David Krause, LapChi Duong, and Scott Calvank are the players who have hit the rail since my last update.
Once the bubble burst, there were a couple fo quick exits from Ross Wilson in 37th place ($791) and Derek Letourneau in 36th place ($844) to bring the field down to 35 remaining.
They are now in the money after Seol Hee Kim couldn’t find the cards she needed to crack the aces of Jonathan Chimuk. That made her the bubble player today and the remaining players are all guaranteed at least $791 now.
They are on the money bubble now with 38 players left. Todd Oakley and Adam Balog were the early exits from Day 2 so far and the clock is now paused with 14:09 remaining in Level 15. They’ll take two minutes off the clock now for every hand played until the next elimination puts them in the money.
In the final hand of Level 14, Debi Loomer opened the cutoff to 8k and got calls from Jordan Banfield on the button, Kory Stephenson in the small blind and Mal Hagan in the big. The flop came 3♣7♣9♣ and all players checked it through to the J♦ turn. Stephenson checked the turn before Hagan fired out a bet of 10k.
Banfield was the only caller to the 2♦ river. Hagan checked and after about 30 seconds of thought, Banfield checked behind, showing Q♦10♦ but his queen high (with busted open-ender) was no good against the flopped pair for Hagan’s king-nine.
The Day 2 players are now assembling and find their seats with 40 players coming back to fight for 37 paid spots. There are quite a few shorties out there today, so I expect they’ll be in the money pretty quickly.
Josh Berry was happy to agree to a deal for $3k with the chip lead at least in part because he had most of the bounties. He pulled the second Green card for $2,678 as well as Pink ($2,168), Yellow ($1,084), and two Blues worth $638 each for an extra $7,206 in bounties. That put his final total tonight over $10k.
The final two players played a bit of heads-up, but it didn’t take long for chip leader Josh Berry to offer up a deal. He said he’d be willing to take $3k and Mike Malm agreed to his share of the remaining money, $2,853. Along with the money chop, they agreed to each take their own bounty. Malm drew first and pulled a green card worth $2,678 to go along with his second place money.
They are heads up now after Cardelle Szego shoved her button with ace-three but ran into ace-queen for Josh Berry. Berry flopped a queen and Szego was on her way out in 3rd place.
KJ flopped a queen to go with his king-queen, but couldn’t find anything else to crack the aces of Josh Berry. KJ added $1,148 to the $3,365 he picked up for second in the PLO game on opening night. He asked that I not take his picture tonight.
Berry is now the chip leader with more than a full stack of 25k chips in front of him.
They are down to 6 left in the Mystery bounty after Todd Oakley hit the rail for 10th place. I missed the action whole I was outside for a minute. The only bounty we know of for sure so far was Cardelle Szego’s min-bounty — the other two bounties have been pulled, but not opened yet, so we don’t know what they are.
They are down to 8 left now after Jon Jacquard was the second player out in the money. His chips slid across to Cardelle Szego when she turned a pair of queens. Szego pulled a blue min bounty worth $638 from the bin.
They are in the money now after Jon Jacquard burst the bubble. All remaining players are now guaranteed at least $402 and the bounty bin is out and in play now.
