PPT staff have barely had time to break down the tables from PPT #4 at Pure Casino Yellowhead and it’s almost time for the penultimate series of the 2024 season. Series #5 is across town at Pure Casino Edmonton and is a shortened schedule from the full series with just one week of poker action and 11 events.
The first PPT branded action for Series #5 kicks off at 1 pm Sunday, Oct 13 with a 1 in 10 satellite game for $T equivalent to entry in all open events for the series. Buy-in for the game is $430 ($390 + $40) and players start with 25k in chips for 30-minute levels.
There is more satellite action on Oct 14 with main series action kicking off on Oct 15 with the Seniors First at noon, an open NLH game starting at 4 pm, and a satellite game at 7 pm. That kicks off seven days of PPT action that includes the ever-popular 6-Max and PLO Big Bounty games as well as the two-flight Main Event and the $2k “Series Saver” High Roller to finish it out.

The Little Bounty is in action now with Level 3 just beginning and 51 entries on the board and 47 players still at the felt. There is about 1 hour and 20 minutes left to enter the final game on the schedule.
They are down to the final table now after Colten Yamagishi busted in 10th place. He was in against Johnny Dalphond with the best of it holding king-jack against queen-nine for Dalphond. It wasn’t to be for Yamagishi however as Dalphond turned a gutty with a flush draw then rivered his flush for the win.
Ed Zurawell raised to 30k from the cutoff before Daniel Lefebvre reraised to 88k, leaving just a few 1k chips behind, from the button. Zurawell called and thought Lefebvre was all in so briefly exposed his hand before flipping it back over when he realized Lefebvre still had a few chips back.
The flop was K♣Q♥6♣ and Zurawell bet enough to put Lefebvre all in. Lefebvre called, revealing pocket eights against ace-king of hearts for Zurawell. Zurawell improved on the turn of the A♣3♥ runout while Lefebvre bricked his set to hit the rail in 11th place.
It was all in between Andy Wong and Ed Zurawell with Wong on the button and Zurawell in the big blind. Zurawell was in good shape with pocket jacks against sevens for Wong.
Wong called for a “hockey stick” but the board of 8♥K♦A♣2♠8♠ didn’t comply and Zurawell stacked up a double on his 150k stack.
The Series Saver game is up to 15 entries as players are on the break following Level 3. There are still 12 players left alive for prizes of more than $25k.
Paul Brar opened the middle to 24k and DJ Sharma called from the button before Day 1a leader Daniel Hicks, who has been chipped down today, shoved from the small blind for just under 100k. Brar reshoved with more, and Sharma mucked his hand.
Brar was on A♦Q♣ against A♣J♦ but Hicks flopped his jack and held on a board of J♥5♣K♥5♥4♠.
