The first hand this reporter caught was a juicy one. Florin “Flo” Sucala opened to 10,000 UTG. Seated in the Big Blind, Lawrence Cairns was the sole caller.
First to act, Cairns checked the 5♦Q♦4♣ flop. “Flo” bet 9,000, and within seconds, Cairns raised to 20,000. “Flo” spent a minute in the tank before moving all in for 81,000 in total. Cairns snap-called.
Florin Sucala: A♠Q♠
Lawrence Cairns: Q♣5♥
Cairns was ahead with a flopped two-pair, but “Sucala “Flo” quickly overtook the lead thanks to the A♣ turn. No dice for Carins on the 9♥ river; a big chunk of his stack went to his Romanian opponent.
Florin Sucala: 187,000
Lawrence Cairns: 89,000
